The latest fallout from Intel’s surprise announcement that it is delaying 7nm products came down this afternoon. The company sent word to press media that it is making changes to its executive team in an effort to “accelerate product leadership” as well as “improve focus and accountability in process technology execution”. The immediate impact of Intel’s executive shakeup is that Dr. Murthy Renduchintala, the company’s Chief Engineering Officer, is departing the company effective August 3rd. Intel's leadership ranks were thrown into chaos over the summer when CEO Brian Krzanich abruptly resigned from his position. Krzanich was the subject of an internal investigation and it was discovered that he had a "past consensual relationship" with another Intel employee, which was in volition of corporate policy given his position.  Since late June, Bob Swann has served as interim CEO as the company conducts its "robust search" for a permanent replacement.
