Over the weekend, CVS joined Rite Aid in taking steps to prevent customers from using Apple Pay to make purchases. Despite the steps taken, Apple CEO Tim Cook appeared to be unaffected by this move. During this week’s Wall Street Journal Digital Live conference, when asked if CVS and Rite Aid’s strategy would be a challenge for Apple Pay, Cook answered, “I think it’s a skirmish, is the way I would see it.” Cook then went on to reveal that, within 72 hours of Apple Pay’s launch, more than 1 million cards were activated. Despite some fingers being pointed at China for some recent “man-in-the-middle” attacks on Apple, the company is still looking to expand its presence there. Apple CEO Tim Cook spoke to Chinese news portal Sina.com stating that the company plans to add 25 Apple-brand retail stores in Greater China within two years. Tim Cook also went on to talk about how the company will also increase its investment in China by an undisclosed amount. According to the website, Cook sees a lot of potential in China and that it could be the company’s biggest source of revenue saying, “In the future, China will become Apple’s biggest revenue contributor.
