Samsung this week announced that it has begun mass producing capacious 3.2-terabyte NVMe PCIe solid state drives (SSDs) based on its 3D V-NAND (Vertical NAND) flash memory technology. Before you run out and empty little Tyler's college fund as you dream of building a dream machine with massive amounts of fancy storage, bear in mind this isn't a consumer product -- Samsung developed this beast for use in high-end enterprise server systems. The new part (simply called SM1715) comes in a half-height, half-length (HHHL) card-type form factor and is double the capacity of Samsung's previous highest NVMe SSD, which topped out at 1.6TB.
