Here’s How To Unlock Your Windows 10 PC With A Samsung Galaxy S8
Samsung has updated its two-year-old Flow app to now support unlocking Windows 10 devices using compatible smartphone devices and Windows Hello, a handy security feature that is baked into Microsoft's latest operating system. For this to work, the Samsung-brand smartphone must have a fingerprint scanner, and of course Samsung Flow needs to be installed (it is a free download from Google Play).
While not all smartphones support this feature, there are nearly a dozen that do. They include the following handsets (as listed by Samsung on the app's Google Play listing):
To be able to unlock your Windows 10 device with a compatible Samsung smartphone, the first thing you need to do is download Samsung Flow from Google Play (hit the source link). You also need to have Samsung Flow installed on your Windows 10 device—it is available in the Windows Store. Finally, make sure you are running the Windows 10 Creators Update (or newer, when applicable) for this to work.
Once the app is installed on both your smartphone/tablet and Windows 10 device, fire it up on both gadgets. On your Windows 10 device, choose your phone and click the pair button. Next you will need to confirm the passcode on both devices, which will complete the Bluetooth pairing. Next, click the "Register device" button, then confirm the passcode on both devices again. Finally, enter your PIN. From here on out you can use your Samsung phone/tablet to unlock Windows 10 with your fingerprint.
