Twitter's Mobile Revenue Often Soars Above Web
According to a report in Reuters, Costolo made it very clear that his company is "born out of mobile" when asked the difference between Twitter and Facebook, the latter of which hasn't been performing as well as expected in the stock market.
"We have an ad platform that already is inherently suited to mobile, even though we launched our platform on the web and only started running ads on mobile recently," Costolo said.
Even though the mobile ad platform is relatively new, Costolo said that mobile pulled in more revenue than web on many days in the last quarter, though he stopped short of offering up any hard numbers, as Twitter is always reluctant to do. However, estimates have Twitter pulling in hundreds of millions of dollars a year.
