Turion 64 X2 Stirs Price War?
DigiTimes reports that AMD's upcoming new Turion 64 X2 mobile CPU's are expected to cause a price-war in the notebook market. With Turion 64 X2 based notebooks from the likes of ASUS, HP, and Acer coming to market in May, we are bound to see one of the first true threats to Intel's Centrino platform. With Intel's new Merom CPU preparing to launch, it will certainly be interesting to see how AMD's price/performance ratio for the Turion 64 X2 will match against it.
AMD will release its new Turion X2 64 processors, with the entry-level segment starting at 1.6GHz and the flagship topping out at 2.2GHz with 2MB of L2 cache, on May 9.
