SSDs Added to Dell EqualLogic PS6000 Arrays

It's time to face facts, HDD lovers. SSDs are here to stay, like it or not. As we see more and more solid state drives flood out into the consumer market, we're also seeing these durable, pricey and ridiculously quick spinners infiltrate all sorts of other devices. Take Dell's newest EqualLogic PS6000 series of storage arrays, for instance. Starting today, users who need gobs of space for media, web materials or really, really long home videos can get an EqualLogic array with SSDs within.

These high-end, enterprise-centric devices offer increased performance, advanced virtualization capabilities and even greater value than previous generations. Of course, Dell has crafted 'em to integrate seamlessly into existing EqualLogic storage area networks (SANs), and if you were wondering just how much of a difference the SSD makes, check this. These rigs perform up to 91 percent faster for sequential write workloads and up to 29 percent faster for sequential read workloads when compared with previous generation. Yeah, crazy.

Dell hasn't fessed up to pricing details just yet, but let's just say you'll probably need to own a medium-sized or larger business just to have the credit necessary to procure one.
