Xiaomi Black Shark 2 And Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus Performance Dominates In Benchmark Leak
We've already heard about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC that is aimed at high-end gaming smartphones. We also know that the ASUS ROG Phone II will sport that high-end chipset and have seen that smartphone in a leak. One thing that has been unknown is what levels of performance the SoC will provide to gamers. Geekbench scores for the Black Shark 2 gaming smartphone that uses the 855 Plus SoC have surfaced, and now we know what to expect.
The benchmark results show a single-core score of 3623 and a multi-core score of 11367. The device used in the test was the Black Shark 2 running Android 9.0 with 11,506 MB of RAM. Breaking the performance out by category, the Geekbench results give a crypto score of 1748, integer score of 4007, a floating point score of 3502, and a memory score of 3410.
Comparing the Black Shark 2 with its 855 Plus SoC to a Galaxy S10 that runs the Snapdragon 855 on the same version of Android and Geekbench shows a healthy performance gain. A recent benchmark ran of a Galaxy S10 lists a singe-core score of 3350 and a multi-core score of 9749. Qualcomm unveiled the 855 Plus SoC earlier this month.
The SoC promises a clock speed of 2.96GHz, and the Adreno GPU promises performance improved by about 15% compared to the Snapdragon 855. The SoC does support 5G, but it has to be paired with a Snapdragon X50 modem. The Snapdragon 855 Plus has an integrated Snapdragon X24 4G LTE modem. Qualcomm has stated that it developed the Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC to give OEM partners higher performance parts to complete the Snapdragon Elite Gaming experience.
