Smartphones to Get Kindle E-Reader Software?
The New York Times says that Amazon.com has confirmed that they are working on such software. According to Drew Herdener, a spokesman for Amazon:
"We are excited to make Kindle books available on a range of mobile phones. We are working on that now."
Does this mean Amazon.com is giving up on the Kindle? There's no way. The demand for the original Kindle over the holiday season was immense. And the Kindle and any dedicated e-book reader is superior to a smartphone for reading purposes.
That doesn't mean, however, that things won't change as smartphones continue to improve. So it can't hurt to get Kindle readers on as many platforms as possible.
We'll find out more Monday, perhaps.
