SanDisk Reveals Tiny Sansa Clip Zip MP3 Player
It was SanDisk's own CEO who confessed years back that no one could "out iPod the iPod," but the company is still plugging along with their Sansa line of MP3 players. Granted, these simplistic players don't exactly compete with the iPod touch, but still, it's a little strange to see the company introducing a new rival, in any sense. The newest in the range is the Sansa Clip Zip MP3 player, which offers a smaller-than-life screen, FM radio, voice recording capability and a microSDHC slot for extra storage.
It's available now in the U.S. and Canada, with Europe getting it "soon." It's said to be compatible with all major music formats, including the AAC codec (DRM-free iTunes compatible), MP3, WMA, WAV, FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, and Audible files. The player's new 1.1-inch LCD color screen offers 83 percent more viewing area than previous models. Its updated graphical interface displays album art and makes it easier than ever for consumers to navigate songs. It'll ship in red, blue, black, orange, white, grey and purple, and it's no doubt being marketed as a great friend for the gym. Thinner and lighter than before, the player weighs a little more than half an ounce (15.8 grams) and is about the same size as a matchbox (2.25 x 1.42 x 0.58 inches), and it's durable enough to be used by fitness junkies.
It'll last up to 15 hours on a single charge, and it includes a built-in microphone with voice recording capabilities and uses a micro-USB connector.
