Samsung's HomeSync Android Set-Top Box Wields 1TB Storage, Dual-Core CPU

Your living room is proving the next battleground for tech companies, and towards that end, Samsung on Sunday unveiled its HomeSync set-top box. Samsung's billing the device as a home hub solution capable of wirelessly streaming content from your Galaxy devices to your HDTV.

It's powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core processor and has 1GB of DDR3 memory. It also sports a 1TB hard drive, 8GB eMMC, GbE port, dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0 port, and HDMI output. All of this comes together under Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, offering full access to Google Play.

"HomeSync’s 1TB drive can help you sync to multiple devices, providing shared or private storage for all your content. It supports eight separate accounts to cover a whole family, and allows each user to upload and download content from multiple devices and instantly share with other family members," Samsung explains. "File encryption and user-specific ID and password ensure content in a user’s private area remains separate from the shared area in HomeSync."

Samsung says its HomeSync device will be available in the U.S. starting April, though neglected to mention an MSRP.
