Samsung Shows Off 32-Inch 4K Ultra HD Monitor For Professionals

We've seen display makers focus on lower cost 4K Ultra HD monitors in recent months, and while we applaud the effort, what about the graphics professional who is willing to spend more on a panel with better color accuracy? It looks like Samsung is ready to answer the call. In addition to a handful of mobile devices unveiled today, Samsung announced the availability of its new UD970, a 32-inch class 4K monitor for the professional crowd.

By that we mean it's intended for users who require not only a high resolution, but also accurate color reproduction for video and photo editing, graphic design, mapping and simulation, architecture, engineering, and the list goes on. And hey, enthusiasts who simply want a premium panel are welcome to join the party, too.

The UD970 features a 31.5-inch low-glare PLS (Plane to Line Switching) panel with a 3840x2160 resolution and 178-degree wide viewing angle. It provides true 10-bit color support capable of displaying over 1 billion colors and meets 100 percent of sRGB and 99.5 percent of Adobe RGB specifications, Samsung says.

Samsung goes the extra mile by incorporating its Natural Color Expert engine with 16-bit hardware calibration and 11 selectable color space settings to enable a high level of fine tuning.

Other features include an 8ms response time (GTG), quad and dual window picture-by-picture, picture-in-picture 2.0 support, four-port USB hub with charging, and an adjustable stand with 30-degree left-right swivel and 90-degree pivot capabilities for portrait and landscape orientations. Connectivity options include Dual Link DVI, two DisplayPort 1.2 ports, an a single HDMI 1.4 port.

The UD970 will be available later this month for $2,000.
