Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge Pre-Orders Begin April 1 On Verizon Wireless

“The Next Big Thing” will soon be upon us. Samsung announced the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge over the weekend and many buyers are eager to get their hands on the new flagship smartphones. If you’re a Verizon Wireless customer, we now know when pre-orders for both smartphone will open up on April Fool’s Day.

The global launch for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge is officially earmarked for April 10, so the April 1 pre-order date matches up nicely with Samsung’s launch window.

As for pricing, T-Mobile revealed yesterday that the retail price for the Galaxy S6 (32GB) is a steep $699. If that pricing holds up, 64GB and 128GB models would ring up at $799 and $899 respectively. And if Galaxy Note Edge pricing is any indicator, we may see an extra $100 tacked onto those prices for the Galaxy S6 Edge (maybe Samsung will show mercy and make the premium a more reasonable $50, but we’re not holding our breaths). It remains to be seen how Verizon Wireless will price the smartphones, but at least T-Mobile has given us a bit of guidance.

The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge both feature an octa-core processor with 3GB of RAM, 5.1-inch QHD (2560x1440) display, 16MP rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 5MP front-facing camera, 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, support for wireless charging and a 2,550 mAh battery (2,600 mAh on the Galaxy S6 Edge).

The Galaxy S6 Edge differs from its lesser sibling via the use of a display that curves on both the right- and left-hand side of the device. The curvature of the display allows for the Galaxy S6 Edge to deliver colorful notifications even if the smartphone is placed facedown on a table.
