Razer Sila 802.11ac Tri-Band Gaming Router Grabs For The Speed Crown

Razer is mostly known for making slick gaming laptops, mice and keyboards, but over the last couple of years the company has branched out greatly. The Razer Phone was recently announced and a second-gen gaming smartphone was teased during an investor conference not long ago. Now it appears that Razer has another new gaming product on the horizon: the Sila high-performance WiFi router. Sila is aimed directly at gamers wanting WiFi coverage that is optimized for high-performance gaming, streaming content, and multimedia content.

The router is optimized to prevent lag when gaming on consoles, desktops, mobile devices, and laptops. Razer installs its own FasTrack software on the Sila router and uses the QoS engine for smart traffic management and gaming packet prioritization. FasTrack software allows the user to prioritize traffic based on application and device type, be it a smart TV, computer, or game console. The software can automatically identify PlayStation, Xbox and Switch consoles, making it easy to tune whichever device priority you want. That means you can tune it so that your kid playing Mario Kart on the Nintendo Switch can’t steal all the bandwidth you need for Fortnite on your PS4. The software also allows the user to automatically reserve overall network bandwidth specifically for online gaming apps.

Sila also supports advanced mesh routing, with multiple Sila routers that can be combined for WiFi coverage of areas up to 6,000 square feet on a single story. For multi-story buildings over 6,000 square feet, three units can be combined. Tri-band routing supports a dedicated 5GHz backhaul and independent fronthaul links for up to four simultaneous DFS channels to reduce interference and network congestion. Wireless network technology supported includes 802.11n 2.4GHz up to 400 Mbps, 802.11ac 5GHz-1 up to 1734 Mbps, and 802.11AC 5GHz-2 up to 866 Mbps.

Razer will ship the Sila on October 3^rd for $249.99.
