Randi Zuckerberg Is The Cautionary Yin To Mark Zuckerberg’s Visionary Yang
He does have a counterbalance, though, and--wouldn’t you know it--it’s his sister, Randi.
Randi Zuckerberg
Randi Zuckerberg’s blog, “Dot Complicated”, is all about navigating through all the tech that exists and living a balanced life. She doesn’t want to get rid of technology, but she does want to help people manage it and use it to augment a quality life as opposed to letting it consume lives.
She has a new children’s book coming out called “Dot”, which follows a little girl who’s savvy about her handheld electronics but is missing out on the “real world” and embarks on an IRL interactive adventure. Zuckerberg also has a book out called “Dot Complicated” which appears to espouse those same values, but it’s written for an adult audience.
To be clear, Randi Z. is no luddite (despite the occasional flap); she worked for Facebook and owns her own company called Zuckerberg Media, in addition to writing Dot Complicated and her books. But her take on technology, and in particular the technology that she helped her more well-known brother build, is refreshing.
It’s all the more intriguing because of the last name she shares with one of the most important tech moguls of our time.
