Overwatch eSports Tournament Heading To TBS With $300,000 Prize Pool

If you are a Overwatch fan, get ready for one of the first international tournaments for the game. ELEAGUE, FACEIT, and Blizzard just partnered up to bring fans the Overwatch Open in Europe and North America. Players will be competing for their share of the $300,000 USD prize pool.

We look forward to capitalizing on the momentum from season one of ELEAGUE with another compelling event featuring one of the most exciting new games in eSports.” 

The Overwatch Open will comprise an online phase run by FACEIT for European and North American teams. They will also be in charge of the Regional and Grand finals which will take place at Turner Studios’ ELEAGUE arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The Grand Final will be live on both TBS and Twitch on September 30th.

The competition begins TODAY on the FACEIT platform. Online rounds will culminate with playoff rounds from Friday, August 26th to Sunday, August 28th. Regional Finals Prizes will include $24,000 for the second place team, $18,000 for the third and fourth place teams, and $6,000 for the fifth through eighth place teams. The top eight teams from each of these regional playoffs will advance to the Finals. The winning team from each Regional Final will earn a place in the Grand Finals and chance to win the USD 100,000 grand prize.

The North American Regional Finals will be held Sunday and Monday, September 25–26th, while the European Regional Finals will be played on Wednesday and Thursday, September 28–29th. The winning team of the Overwatch Open Grand Finals will receive $100,000, with the runners-up taking home $32,000. For more information, click here.
