Nintendo’s Black Friday Deals Deliver Discounts On Switch And 2DS Gaming Goodness

Black Friday Luigi
Each day brings us closer to this year's Black Friday, the busiest shopping day of the year, and companies are getting a jump start by announcing deals ahead of time. That includes discounts on game consoles—Sony and Microsoft are both planning to offer deals on their respective systems and accessories, and now we know what Nintendo has in store as well.

Nintendo posted a fun two-minute video clip to YouTube starring Luigi, otherwise known as the other plumber (Mario tends to get the lion's share of attention), and towards the end Nintendo reveals what deals are coming. A Switch bundle is perhaps the biggest one, at least for anyone who doesn't already own one.

The price for the Switch is staying the same at $299.99, but for Black Friday, it will come with a pre-installed copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. No small inclusion, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a $59.99 game and the second best selling first-party title for the Switch with 11.71 million units sold, surpassing even the wildly popular The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at 10.28 units. Only Super Mario Odyssey has seen more sales, at 12.17 million units.

Nintendo 2DS

Nintendo will also be selling a special yellow and red 2DS system bundle with Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS pre-installed, for $79.99. That's a nice value, considering that the game itself launched at $39.99.

"For families still looking to pick up a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo 2DS system, these Black Friday deals offer great values for any holiday budget," said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "With each boasting libraries of more than 1,000 games and counting, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 2DS have something for everyone."

Finally, what's less of a deal and more of an announcement, Nintendo will be selling a set of two white Joy-Con Wheel accessories for $14.99. It's a new color option, and not a discount over the black model that is already on the market. If you're interested in the white Joy-Con Wheel set, be on the lookout for deals though—Best Buy has the black version marked down to $13.99 right now, and Amazon has it even cheaper at $12.97.
