New GeForce Beta Drivers from NVIDIA Introduce Big Performance Gains

NVIDIA today has made available new beta drivers for GeForce graphics card owners, version 304.48. Playing with beta code comes with certain risks, of course (like potentially wonky behavior and instability issues), but there are also rewards to be had, like up to 60 percent better performance in Total War: Shogun 2 for GeForce GTX 680 card owners. Wowza!

In fact, those who own a GTX 680 videocard are the biggest beneficiaries of increased performance. In addition to the above mentioned bump, NVIDIA says you can also expect up to 18 percent better performance in Batman: Arkham City, up to 15 percent in Dragon Age II, and up to 10 percent in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.

GeForce GTX 560 owners also should see a boost in a handful of titles, including up to 14 percent in Batman: AC, up to 5 percent in Battlefield 3 (with SLI), up to 4 percent in Dragon Age II, up to 8 percent in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings with SLI, and up to 7 percent in Lost Planet 2.

Updated SLI and 3D Vision profiles, along with a few fixed issues, also comprise the beta drivers. Interested? If so, you can grab them here.
