MSI Shows Off GX723 Gaming Notebook

MSI launched its latest flagship gaming notebook, the GX723. This 17-inch desktop replacement centers on a 512MB GeForce GT 130M graphics chipset that is good enough to run modern games smoothly. The notebook also offers MSI's Turbo Mode which lets you overclock the Core 2 Duo processor as long as the system is on AC power.

The GX723’s display offers a resolution of 1,680 x 1,050. Above the display, there’s a 2-megapixel webcam. You’ll find a 320GB or 500GB hard drive and up to 4GB of memory on this system. A Blu-ray or DVD drive is also available. Five speakers are tucked into the limited space on the notebook providing Dolby sound without an external setup.

For wireless connectivity, 802.11n Wi-Fi comes with every system. The notebook also has a HDMI output connector, the latest E-SATA support, and an optional DTV receiver so you can watch television shows on demand.

The GX723 gets its power from a 6- or 9-cell battery. To extend battery running time while performing different tasks, the GX723 uses the brand new ECO Engine. By touching the ECO quick launch sensor repeatedly, you’ll switch among the five different power modes: Gaming mode, Movie mode, Presentation mode, Office mode, and Turbo Drive mode. To return to the original setting, all you have to do is touch the ECO OFF button.
