Microsoft Launching Microsoft Music Streaming Service Next Week
As it currently stands, Xbox Music is accessible to people using Windows 8 and Windows RT tablets and PCs, Windows Phone users, and owners of Xbox 360 consoles. That's hardly an all-encompassing umbrella of music lovers, but going forward, Microsoft plans to invite more listeners to the party.
It will start with offering web-based access, according to The Verge and its sources who are supposedly familiar with Microsoft's Xbox Music plans. The service will launch next week at music.xbox.com, and in preparation of that launch, Microsoft has already begun updating and overhauling its Xbox Music pages.
Xbox Music on the web will work similar to Spotify's web version. You'll be able to look up tunes, stream music, and manage playlists through your browser. Looking even further down the road, The Verge points out that when it first heard about Microsoft's plans for Xbox Music, iOS and Android versions were mentioned alongside web access.
