Here’s The LG V50 ThinQ 5G Flagship Phone Leaked Ahead Of Its MWC 2019 Unveil

MWC 2019 will be here before you know it and at the show, there will be a legion of new smartphones unveiled. Among the devices to be revealed is the LG V50 ThinQ. LG has already been teasing the device, so we know a bit about it, and now an image has leaked that claims to be of the smartphone wearing its Sprint 5G livery. A glance at the device shows that it looks very familiar.

Essentially the LG V50 ThinQ looks exactly like the V40 ThinQ that came before it, but the V50 has a yellow 5G logo on the back for Sprint duty. The back of the alleged V50 ThinQ shows the same three camera arrangement with fingerprint scanner underneath. The image of the front of the V50 has the front camera, microphone, and sensor in a notch that is hard to make out in the image, but again the front notch appears to be the same notch the V40 has up front.

Inside the devices will be different; aside from the obvious 5G upgrade for the modem, the V50 also uses a new cooling system that utilizes a vapor chamber rather than a heat pipe. We talked about the cooling system of the V50 ThinQ before; it has nearly three times the surface area of the V40 heat pipe and twice as much cooling liquid. Other tidbits that LG has teased about the V50 include a 4,000 mAh battery, a significant upgrade compared to the 3,300 mAh battery the V40 uses.

LG did confirm that the V50 will use the new Qualcomm 7nm Snapdragon 855 under the hood, which means that it will use the Snapdragon X50 5G modem. With the V50 ThinQ and V40 ThinQ looking basically identical, LG is hoping that the 5G capability, faster SoC, and improved cooling will lure in V40 user upgrades and new customers.
