LG Carpet Bombs Mid-Range Smartphone Market With Joy, Leon, Magna, And Spirit
All four phones share similar spec sheets, though they differ in size and slightly in physical design -- the top-end Magna and Spirit both sport a "gently curved" body that's supposed to make them fit more comfortably in the palm of any hand, while their displays are distinguished by a subtle 3,000mm radius curve for a sleek profile, LG says.
Looking at the Magna, it brings to the table a 5-inch HD display (294 ppi) powered by a 1.2GHz or 1.3GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM. It also features 8GB of internal storage, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 8-megapixel rear facing camera, 2,540 mAh removable battery, 3G and 4G connectivity, and Android 5.0 Lollipop.
You can copy and paste the spec sheet over to every other phone, so long as you make the following changes:
- LG Spirit: 4.7-inch HD display (312 ppi), 8MP or 5MP rear camera, 1MP front camera, 2,100 mAh removable battery
- LG Leon: 4.5-inch FWVGA (220 ppi), 8MP or 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera, 1,900 mAh removable battery
- LG Joy: 4-inch WVGA display (233 ppi), 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera, 4GB or 8GB of storage, 1GB of 512MB of RAM, 1,900 mAh removable battery, Android 5.0 Lollipop or Android 4.4 KitKat
"LG’s new mid-range collection continues our legacy of offering amazing smartphones at reasonable prices," said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. "For millions of consumers around the world, the deciding factor on which smartphone to buy isn’t how fast or how big it is but how balanced it is. With our new mid-range smartphones, more and more customers will be looking to LG for their next handsets."
The LTE variant of each phone will feature a metallic back cover, while the 3G versions will use patterned plastic back covers.
