Latest Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer Is A Delectable Mix Of Nostalgia And Fresh Badassery
Force Awakens kicks off a brand new trilogy in a setting that takes place around 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi. There are new leads this time around, including Rey and Finn, played by Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, respectively. Both are again featured in the trailer, as are iconic characters like Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Princess Leia.
What the trailer does reveal are hints about the plot. Kylo Ren, played by Adam Driver, vows to finish what Darth Vader started. Meanwhile, Han Solo confirms to the newcomers that the stories they heard about the Jedi, the Force, the Dark Side, and everything else are true.
Luke Skywalker is noticeably missing from the 130-second teaser, perhaps because Mark Hamill isn't reprising his role or, more likely, director J.J. Abrams is saving him for a surprise cameo. Or is he missing? There's a scene with a hooded character resting a robotic hand on R2-D2, could that be him? Mark Hamill's name also appears in the movie poster's credits, though he's not shown on the poster itself.
We'll find out what's going on in a couple of months -- Force Awakens lands in theaters December 18, with tickets on sale now (seriously).
