Kindle Fire HD 8.9" 4G LTE Lands at AT&T April 5
AT&T today announced that it will begin offering Amazon's Kindle Fire HD 8.9" tablet on April 5 "at an affordable price." It's the 32GB model with 4G LTE connectivity, but just how affordable is it? Well, for a limited time, AT&T says customers who purchase the $399 tablet with a two-year data agreement will receive up to $150 off, bringing the overall cost down to $249.
Data plans start at $14.99 per month, which works out to nearly $360 during the life of the contract. That's still a significant savings, presuming you planned on forking over for a data plan to begin with (and if not, you should be shopping the non LTE version).
"Being the first carrier to connect Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD to our 4G LTE network provides the best mobile internet experience," said Chris Penrose, senior vice president of emerging devices, AT&T. "Combining our 4G LTE with Kindle Fire HD’s rich features at an incredible price point yields a great value and experience for our customers."
The Kindle Fire HD 8.9" sports an 8.9-inch display with a 1920x1200 resolution (254 ppi), 1.5GHz dual-core OMAP4470 processor, 1GB of RAM, HD front-facing camera, and dual stereo speakers.
