iPads Purchased Prior to June 7 Still Eligible for AT&T's All-You-Can-Eat Data Buffet
According to a report in The New York Times, iPad 3G tablets purchased before June 7 are still eligible for the $29.99 unlimited data plan. For everyone else, you'll have to make do with the new 2GB plan for $25/month. That isn't such a big deal for iPhone customers, where 3G data usage tends to be lower, but could be a concern for iPad owners who plan to take advantage of all that Apple's tablet has to offer, from the full Web experience to HD games and even a bit of Netflix streaming (not exactly ideal on a 3G connection) thrown in.
Even for those who are able to sign up for the unlimited plan, there remains a couple of concerns. Should you cancel your unlimited plan after June 7 for any reason, you won't be able to re-instate it. In addition, it's entirely possible that AT&T will exempt unlimited data plan subscribers from using the company's upcoming 4G LTE network once it's rolled out.
