Hulu Plus Now 3 Million Subscribers Strong

Fair warning to any company that's still interested in trying to acquire Hulu, the price may have just gone up. The streaming service had a heck of a year, ending 2012 with more than 3 million paying Hulu Plus subscribers contributing to approximately $695 million in revenue, the company announced in a blog post. That's an addition of more than 1 million paying subscribers since April of this year.

Hulu's revenue growth is nothing short of staggering. The streaming service exited private beta and officially launched in 2010, at which point it was already making hundreds of millions of dollars. Compared to last year, Hulu's revenue growth is a very healthy 65 percent.

"We released next generation user experiences—to great response—across the web, on gaming consoles, and on Android tablets and phones."

In addition to widespread availability, Hulu is generating revenue through advertising. In 2010, Hulu served more than 1,000 advertisers, about a quarter more (28 percent) than last year.
