HP Unveils CES 2011 Notebook And Desktop Lineup
The CES website may tell you that the trade show doesn't begin until the 6th of this month, but don't tell that to Lenovo or HP. Both companies are offering up something new today, with Hewlett-Packard having the most lengthy list of announcements between the two. At least for today. Let's dive on it!
First, HP's Pavilion dm1 has been updated with an AMD Fusion APU that offers smooth 1080p multi-media playback, an 11.6" HD BrightView display, a full-size keyboard, a battery good for up to 10.75 hours of life, up to 750GB of storage, an optional GPS module and an optional external Blu-ray player. It'll go on sale in the U.S. on 1/9 for $449.99 and up.
Onto the gaming side, the HP Envy 17 is also being updated. Specifically, HP's CoolSense technology keeps it less warm in use, and it includes second-gen Intel Core processors, AMD switchable graphics (between IGP and Mobility Radeon 6860M), Intel's Wireless Display tech, Beats Audio and a 17.3" HD BrightView display. It's also available with up to 2TB of storage space, and it's expected to ship "soon" with a price that's TBD.
Moving onto smaller things, there's the refreshed Pavilion dv6 and dv7. These are now equipped with Intel's second-gen Core processors, AMD Mobility Radeon graphics, an HP Imprint finish as well as Beats Audio within. The dv6 will start at $899.99 while the dv7 starts at $100 more; both go on sale in the U.S. on 1/9.
Of course, HP is well known for netbooks as well, so a refresh of the Mini 210 isn't unexpected. The new line has two new stylish plaid covers, and the new build is under 1" thick and has a battery that'll last nearly 11 hours. It's expected to go on sale 1/9 in the U.S. starting at $329.99.
Enough about notebooks, let's talk desktops! The Pavilion, Slimline and Elite HPE series are all being updated, with select builds featuring Beats Audio as well as future second-gen Intel Core processors. They'll start at $299.99, $329.99 and $529.99, respectively, when the go on sale in the U.S. on 1/9.
If it's an all-in-one PC you're after, the newest HP TouchSmart software adds multilayered wallpapers, apps like Twitter/Hulu/Netflix and a built-for-touch version of Facebook. Owners of the TouchSmart 300 or 60 lines can upgrade (for free) starting on 1/9.
HP's also updating their line of business PCs and workstations, with the Compaq 8200 Elite, 6200 Pro and 4000 Pro units all seeing new CPUs, new energy saving functions and prices starting at around $499.
On the lower-end of the consumer spectrum, the HP 100B is a nifty new all-in-one PC that's mostly designed for small biz use, offering integrated graphics and a bundled keyboard/mouse for a price starting at $499.
Finally, the HP Compaq line is seeing a new LA2006x, LA2206x and LA2306x LCD boost, not to mention the lower-end LE1901wl 19" monitor priced at just $157. Like we said, who says CES isn't underway?
