Here's the Latest Scoop on Samsung's Galaxy S5 Smartphone
Rumors about Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S5 smartphone have been raining down from cyberspace seemingly nonstop for the past few weeks. There's been chatter of the Galaxy S5 switching to new casing materials, talk of a 64-bit Exynos processor, speculation of an eye scanner, and plenty more in regards to Samsung's flagship device. So, what's the real scoop?
The folks at SamMobile say they've been able to "confirm" the Galaxy S5's specs, though we're not willing to use the verb quite as loosely. SamMobile's confirmation comes from one of its insiders, which isn't to say the info isn't 100 percent accurate, it's just not confirmed in the sense that Samsung made an official statement.
That little disclaimer aside, the tipster says the Galaxy S5 will definitely come in both metal and plastic versions as previously rumored. The metal SKU will cost around 800 euros (a little shy of $1,100) and the plastic model will retail for 650 euros (around $890). Don't be scared off by those prices -- rarely do the conversion rates end up being the retail MSRP in the U.S.
There will reportedly be both metal and plastic version of the Galaxy S5.
Should this turn out to be true, Samsung will be following in the footsteps of Apple, which launched a metallic iPhone 5S and polycarbonate plastic iPhone 5C. What isn't yet clear is if Samsung's metal version will also be called the Galaxy S5 or be dubbed Galaxy F, the latter of which has been tossed about the rumor mill.
