Google Announces DVF Glass Collection Of Fashion-Geek Eyewear

One of the things Back to the Future II got right was that we'd eventually be wearing glasses with embedded electronics by 2015. Here we are a year ahead of schedule and though it's not JVC supplying the wearables, Google has stepped in with Glass. To Google's credit, Glass looks far less dorky than the JVC specs Marty McFly, Jr. wore at the dinner table, but there's still room for improvement in the fashion department, hence the new DVF | Made for Glass collection.

The Google Glass team announced the chic eyewear on its Google+ page. Google has teamed with fashion designer Dianve von Furstenberg to bring trendy Glass designs to the Glass Explorer Program, which will sit alongside the existing Titanium Collection.

"Starting June 23, you can purchase the collection exclusively on +NET-A-PORTER and google.com/glass, which includes five new frames and eight new shades to give you even more ways to make Glass your own. At that time, you’ll also be able to purchase the Titanium collection on +MR PORTER," the Google Glass team said.

Word around the web is that the DVF | Made for Glass collection with prescriptive lenses will run $1,725, while the sunglasses variant will cost $1,620. And in case you forgot, Google last month announced that it also teamed with The Luxottica Group, which makes Ray-Ban, Oakley, and other trendy eyewear.
