Geeksphone’s Revolution Smartphone To Feature Intel Atom Chips, May Run Firefox OS
Also, the phones are orange and white, evoking Firefox, and that’s just plain cool.
But Geeksphone has another smartphone in the works called Revolution. The name is perhaps a bit of an overstatement, and the picture of a pregnant woman as the Revolution microsite’s only photo is definitely an overwrought image (is that supposed to be a Messiah reference?), but the phone itself is certainly promising.
Wow. Let's maybe dial down the metaphoric imagery, guys.
The Revolution will have an a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2560 processor, which is equipped with Hyper-Threading technology, as well as a 4.7-inch IPS qHD display, 8MP HD camera with flash, and expandable memory. Geeksphone says that the Revolution will run Android “or other alternatives, such as a Mozilla technology based one”--meaning Firefox OS.
It seems that “or other alternatives” would be a better bet than Android, simply because the market is completely saturated with Android handsets already, and many users are keen to try out Firefox OS on a reasonable high-end smartphone.
The Revolution will be out sometime during the first quarter of 2014.
