Gaming On Xbox and PS3 Apparently Helps Prince Harry On the Front Lines
Prince Harry of Wales is a pretty good shooter, both in real-life and when playing video games. In fact, he credits his time playing games on an Xbox and PlayStation with making him a better shooter, and maybe even a better pilot. The 28-year-old spoke candidly about his tour of duty, flying Apache helicopters, and even killing.
When asked if he had ever killed anyone from the cockpit of his aircraft, he was very straightforward in his response.
"Yeah, so lots of people have. The squadron's been out here. Everyone's fired a certain amount," Prince Harry said. He added, "Take a life to save a life."
Prince Harry is the co-pilot of an Apache helicopter, and apparently he's a pretty good one. That's no surprise to the Prince, who believes that his passion for sport and video games ultimately helped him on the battlefield.
"Exams were always a nightmare, but anything like kicking a ball around or playing PlayStation -- or flying -- I do generally find a little bit easier than walking sometimes," Prince Harry said. "It's a joy for me because I'm one of those people who loves to play PlayStation and Xbox, so with my thumbs I like to think that I'm probably quite useful."
His remarks drew ire from the Taliban, which said Prince Harry "has probably developed a mental problem."
"There are 49 countries with their powerful military failing in the fight against the Mujahideen, and now this prince comes and compares this war with his games, PlayStation or whatever he calls it," a Taliban spokesman said.
Whether anyone likes it or not, playing games and developing rapid hand-eye coordination probably did help Prince Harry become a better soldier. Should he be criticized for talking about it?
