EA Posts Badass Battlefield 1 Official Gameplay Trailer And One Hour Of 64-Player Multiplayer Action

Battlefield 1

If it's varied styles of combat you're after, Battlefield 1 might be the title you've been waiting for. Electronics Arts brought along a trailer of the World War 1 shooter being developed by DICE to E3, which starts off with ground warfare showing soldiers hopping into tanks and storming through towns on foot.

While this is going on, biplanes whiz by overhead shooting at one another before taking down a zeppelin later in the trailer. It's noted in a separate video showing an hour of gameplay footage that when the zeppelin finally succumbs to gunfire, it catches fire and comes crashing down on top of houses in the field of play. There's no predetermined path that's conveniently out of the way, nor does the zeppelin disappear after it crashes—the huge metal skeleton remains amid all the action.

The official trailer also shows bandits on horses chasing down trains, motorcycles, plenty of gunfire and explosions, flamethrowers, and various weather conditions, which EA says will be unpredictable. One minute you might be fighting your foes in sunshine while the next could have you charging the field in rain and fog. Depending on the weather, you may have to change your strategy in order to be successful.

"Discover war on an epic scale, with 64-players engaging in some of the largest multiplayer battles in FPS history. Experience the dawn of all-out war, only in Battlefield 1," EA says.

In addition to an official trailer showing in-game footage, EA also showed an hour of actual gameplay footage featuring two celebrity-filled squads (Snoop Dogg was there) shooting each other in a massive 64-player match in Conquest mode. It's quite the demonstration with frenetic warfare, detailed scenery, and lots of particle effects.

Battlefield 1 is now available to pre-order and will release to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 21, 2016.
