Casio’s Latest Cameras Detect Subjects Using Intelligent AF

Casio announced two new additions to the EXILIM digital camera lineup that attempt to make it even easier to take good photos. For starters, the new EXILIM Zoom EX-Z450 and EXILIM Zoom EX-Z90 feature Intelligent AF, a new function that can detect your photographic subject and adjust the focus and exposure of the image accordingly. This Intelligent AF can detect even non-human subjects.

In addition to adding Intelligent AF, Casio has improved its Dynamic Photo function in both cameras by making it faster and easier to operate. The Dynamic Photo function lets users cut out images of a moving subject and combine them with a different still image to create animated electronic greeting cards and other digital creations using their photos. With previous iterations of the Dynamic Photo function, users had to take two separate photos (one with, and one without the subject). Using the latest version of the Dynamic Photo function, a moving subject can be cropped from a single image, provided the background is flat and one color. In addition, it’s now possible to expand or shrink the size of the cut-out subject to suit the background image.

Both new cameras also offer an HD Movie function that can record movies at 1280x720 pixels.
