Brabus Builds An Insane 900HP Pickup Truck Out Of A Mercedes G-Wagon

Every time we see a Brabus release, we immediately think of Cypress Hill exclaiming: "Insane in the membrane!" Case in point, the company's latest P 900 Rocket Edition turns a Mercedes-AMG G63 into an ultra-exclusive, 900-horsepower twin-turbo V8 pickup that sounds a bit like Godzilla's farts just after eating King Kong.

For this reimagining of the classic G-Wagen, the German tuning house lengthened the chassis, incorporated a steel rear bulkhead aft of the rear seats, and added a cargo bed constructed with carbon fiber side walls, among other things. What this conversion brings to the vehicle, besides some added utility, is an imposing stance especially when viewed side on. The exterior styling is aggressively elevated through a widebody kit featuring exposed carbon fiber components, signature red Brabus logos and accents, massive 24-inch forged aero-disc wheels, and tasty side exhaust cannons.

Powerplant-wise, Brabus bored out the standard Mercedes-AMG twin-turbocharged V-8 engine, increasing its displacement from 4.0 liters to 4.5 liters. Equipped with custom forged pistons, balanced billet connecting rods, a bespoke crankshaft, and larger turbos, the motor generates 900 horses plus a stout 922 lb-ft of torque. A caveat to the latter figure is that Brabus electronically caps the torque at 774 lb-ft to protect the transmission components from complete devastation.

Launching this nearly 6,000 lbs luxury pickup from naught to 62 mph takes a blistering 3.7 seconds, so not a slouch, then. By the way, despite its penchant of making loud, guttural engine barks practically all the time, Brabus engineers were considerate enough to include a "Coming Home" mode, which quietens the exhaust note to keep HOA happy.

Inside the cabin, the transformation is just as extreme, featuring a fully handcrafted two-tone leather/Alcantara interior detailed with an intricate Seashell Diamond quilting. Vibrant red accents highlight everything from the air vents and speaker grilles to the custom steering wheel and switchgear, contrasting sharply against deep black carbon fiber trim pieces.

With an extremely limited run of only 10 units, each P 900, as you might expect, is built to order. All P 900 units will be registered on the Aura Private Blockchain (used by the likes of Prada and Cartier), whereby a digital product passport can be accessed via an NFC-chip in the cargo bed's specification plate. Base price is roughly $800,000.
