Blockbuster Seeks To "Rescue" Upset Netflix Customers
The rental company that made DVD rentals famous is now claiming that they'll "rescue upset Netflix customers" by launching a limited time, nationwide promotion for every single Netflix user that decides to switch their loyalty over to Blockbuster Total Access. According to the company, Blockbuster Total Access provides benefits Netflix doesn’t offer: availability of many new releases 28 days before Netflix; unlimited in-store exchanges; games for Xbox 360, Playstation3, and Nintendo Wii, and no additional charge for Blu-ray movies.
They make some valid points, but the pricing still doesn't seem to impress us. After a free 30-day trial, Total Access will cost $9.99 per month for “1 Disc” at a time or $14.99 per month for “2 Discs” at a time. But remember, Blockbuster doesn't offer nearly the same streaming content as Netflix. This special offer for Netflix customers is available through Sept. 15, 2011, in participating stores and at Blockbuster’s website, but really, is anyone looking to switch over? Hmm...
