This spring,
T-Mobile customers with the
new HTC HD2 will be able to enjoy full-length movies from Blockbuster On Demand
on their handsets. As the exclusive movie download experience that will be
embedded on the upcoming HTC HD2 smartphone, Blockbuster On Demand will enable
users to buy or rent movies digitally and download them to their
smartphone via Wi-Fi.
This offering will be the first download and multi-screen
mobile movie application for
Blockbuster. It is part
of Blockbuster's multichannel offering that offers customers more than 100,000
movies, television shows, and games. The application will also support true
multi-screen capabilities, allowing users to buy a title on their HTC HD2 phone
and watch it on a BLOCKBUSTER On Demand enabled TV set or Blu-ray disc player.
You'll also be able to go between devices, starting a movie on a TV and
finishing it on the HD2, for instance. There are no monthly fees for the
service and customers will be able to buy or rent as they go. Following launch,
the application will let customers access actual store inventory and update
their mail queues.
"Available exclusively from T-Mobile, the HTC HD2 is
like putting Blockbuster in your pocket," said Kevin Lewis, senior vice
president of digital entertainment at Blockbuster. "T-Mobile and HTC have
a long history of partnering to deliver innovative, cutting-edge products - and
we're glad to provide customers the latest way to enjoy entertainment from
Blockbuster."
The HTC HD2 is expected to be available from T-Mobile this
spring.
