Blizzard Announces Darker, Bloodier Diablo IV Coming To PC, PS4 And Xbox One
If you recall, the last installment in the franchise, Diablo III, landed on store shelves way back in 2012. Seven years later, Diablo IV lurches forward with a new adventure complete with fresh adversaries and plenty of treasure to track down.
"True to the franchise’s roots, Diablo IV will deliver visceral combat, gruesome and varied monsters, an epic hunt for legendary loot, and endless playability and progression," writes Blizzard. "Players will find a lifetime’s worth of adventure scattered across a land rooted in unique ecologies and inhabited by dangerous new foes."
At least initially, Blizzard has announced three character classes for Diablo IV: The Barbarian, The Sorceress, and The Druid. Not only do these character classes hold true to what gamers expect from the franchise, but there is plenty of freedom to tailor each to your liking, with the ability to "experiment and discover countless character builds through customizable talent trees and skills, a deep loot system filled with legendary and set items to collect, runes and rune word combinations, and even personalized mounts for traversing the open world."
In concert with the announcement, Blizzard released a lengthy cinematic trailer -- which you can see above -- and a gamely trailer which is presented below.
Although we were not given a release date for Diablo IV, Blizzard did announce that it would be available for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It's be hard to imagine, however, that Blizzard would leave out the next-generation Project Scarlett and PlayStation 5 consoles with all of the graphics muscle that they will bring to the table.
