ASUS Could Announce 7-Inch ‘Fonepad’ Android Tablet and Smartphone at MWC
Based on information obtained from sources within the upstream supply chain, Digitimes (and other sites around the web) is reporting the Fonepad will come equipped with an Intel Atom Z242 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB or RAM, 8-32GB of internal storage, 3MP rear-facing camera, 1.2MP front-facing camera, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth, GPS, and 3G support.

The Fonepad will be a higher end (and higher priced) version of the MeMO Pad shown above.
It will also feature an IPS panel with a 1280x800 display resolution and carry a price tag that converts to between around $270 and $300. As for dimensions, it will measure 196.6mm x 120.1mm x 10.4mm and weight 340g.
The new tablet would offer an alternative option to the current crop of 7-inch slates like the Nexus 7 (which Asus builds for Google) and Kindle Fire, and take up residence in a higher tier than the $149 7-inch MeMO Pad Asus recently announced.
