Apple Sells 3 Million iPads, Will Ship In More Nations Soon

Say what you will about the iPad, but lots of people are buying the thing. They may have no idea what they're going to do with it once they get home, and they're probably still curious as to why the iPhone 3G has access to iOS 4 before the iPad, but hey, those are just minor things, right? We're kidding (in a way), but the sales figures just don't lie: Apple has sold three million iPad units in just 80 days. It hasn't even taken 3 months for the company to move 3 million units, and even with the iPhone 4 getting a serious amount of attention right now, consumers have yet to totally forget about Apple's first tablet.

But that's not all of the news. Aside from Apple feeling pretty good about themselves by moving the three millionth iPad, they're also announcing that a lot more will be sold. Well, not outright, but they're officially announcing that the iPad will launch soon in "nine more countries next month." Oddly enough, those extra nine countries aren't named, but it shouldn't be long before an iPad is available in every major country that Apple operates in.

Are you one of the three million? Have you had a chance to see if it's really as magical as Steve Jobs would have you believe? We still think it's far from reaching its potential (it's all about the apps, which take time to develop), but obviously there's a large amount of early adopters who are willing to put up with the growing pains. Who knows if the next wave of Windows/Linux tablets will be able to say the same, but we're sure curious to see.
