Apple Selling Refurbished iPad Tablets Starting at $299
In fact, Apple just slashed the price of its inventory of refurbished 1st generation iPad devices by 25 percent, which works out to $100 off. Only available in black, Apple's remaining stock of 1st generation refurbished iPad Wi-Fi models are now going for $299 (16GB), $399 (32GB), and $499 (64GB), all in black and ready to ship in 1-3 business days from the Apple Store. Models with a 3G radio built-in are selling for $399 (16GB), $499 (32GB), and $499 (64GB), so you might as well skip the 32GB model.

Refurbished 1st generation iPad devices can be had for as little as $299 (16GB, Wi-Fi) from the Apple Store.
Despite being a 1st generation device, the $299 price point for the 16GB model is compelling proposition. Consider that before last week's announcement, it was only a generation behind, and technically still is (until next Friday). As a refresher, the original iPad has a 1GHz Apple A4 processor, 9.7-inch LED backlit IPS display with a 1024x768 resolution (same as the iPad 2), 256MB of RAM, and built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
It doesn't have built-in cameras like the iPad 2, though quite frankly, the rear-facing camera on the 2nd generation iPad is junk, and the front-facing camera is merely adequate for FaceTime. The iPad 2 also introduced a dual-core A5 processor and 512MB of RAM, as well as a slimmer and lighter design. If those upgrades tickle your fancy, Apple's also selling refurbished iPad 2 models for $50 off, starting at $349 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model in either black or white, and starting at $479 for models with 3G.
