AMD Ships New Neo Processors In HP Pavilion dv2z
We've heard that Intel may have a few new Atom processors on tap for release later this year, so it makes sense to see AMD propping up its own low-end, low-power lineup. Rather than unveil them alone, however, it seems as if Advanced Micro Devices is enlisting the assistance of Hewlett-Packard, as the newest Athlon Neo and Turion Neo processors are surfacing in the all-new Pavilion dv2z notebook.
Beginning this week, consumers in the market for a new ultraportable can find the aforementioned machine on sale, and while the base configuration arrives with the Neo MV-40, you can opt to upgrade to the Athlon Neo X2 L335 (1.6GHz) or Turion Neo X2 L625 (also 1.6GHz). Both of these chips boast a dual-core design, and paired up with ATI discrete graphics, should enable high-res video playback and possibly even some light-duty gaming.
Other specifications include a 12.1" LED BrightView display, HDMI socket, optional Blu-ray drive, Altec Lansing speakers, HP's MediaSmart software, an optional Gobi chip for onboard WWAN, webcam with dual-array microphones, your choice of an ATI Mobility Radeon HD3410 (discrete) or the Mobility Radeon X1250 (integrated), a battery life of five hours and a weight of 3.81lbs.
