AMD is getting ready to host its second annual Capsaicin event under the headline "Capsaicin and Cream." You might recall that during AMD's introductory Capsaicin event last March the company talked about Polaris, offering up the first official details about its then-upcoming GPU architecture. It also unveiled a Radeon solid state storage architecture and provided a roadmap that ran through 2019. At this year's Capsaicin event, we expect AMD to hype Ryzen and Vega, its upcoming CPU and GPU architectures.
The event will take place on February 28 at the 2017 Game Developers Conference (GDC). There will be a Capsaicin livestream that kicks off at 10:30 AM Pacific (1:30 PM Eastern) from Ruby Skye, a theater-turned-club that is a popular destination in San Francisco, California.
"Our feature-packed show will be highlighted by the hottest new graphics and VR technologies propelling the game industry forward—with previews of the summer’s hottest PC games and VR experiences from the biggest names in the business," AMD says.
With Ryzen set to release on the same day or not long after, it's a safe bet that AMD will showcase its new CPU architecture extensively during the event. However, there's speculation that AMD will also use Capsaicin as a launchpad for Vega. It would probably still be another couple of months before Vega cards released to retail, but detailing the GPU architecture and showing off demos would certainly drum up excitement.
The livestream will last an hour. Guests who attend will receive VIP access to Ruby Skye at 7:30 PM where AMD will serve up spicy dishes followed by ice cream. What about the several hours in between? Here is a look at the full schedule:
10:00 AM - 10:30 AM: Doors open, seating available on a first come, first serve basis
10:30 AM - 11:30 AM: AMD Capsaicin and Cream livestream
2:30 PM - 5:00 PM: Cream developer sessions
7:30 PM - Midnight: Capsaicin and Cream after party with a guest DJ
"You’ll need adequate time to digest all the news and revelations, so we’ll give you a few hours to catch your breath before assaulting your senses again at the Capsaicin and Cream after-party," AMD says.
Stay tuned, as we'll be covering any announcements that come out of Capssaicin.
