Alienware M11x Upgraded With Core i5/i7 And NVIDIA Optimus Graphics

We found Alienware's M11x to be one-in-a-million when we reviewed it earlier in the year, but there's always room for improvement. Even Alienware recognizes that, and they've done quite a bit of improving with the latest edition of the planet's smallest hardcore gaming notebook. The new M11x still retains the tiny 11" form factor and typical Alienware design, but the components within are on another planet.

Consumers now have the option to get a Core i5 or Core i7 processor within, and the best news is that battery life should be better thanks to using NVIDIA's Optimus graphics switching technologies. Alienware also allows users to overclock their CPU beyond the standard, and the NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M has 1GB of discrete memory to offer stutter-free playback at 720p. There's also built-in NVIDIA PhysX technology to enhance details, and an integrated Intel HD graphics set is switched to whenever you don't need that extra power (but could use the extra battery life).

The new M11x will be available in soft-touch Stealth Black or Lunar Shadow and will weigh 4.4lbs. It ships with a 64-bit copy of Windows 7, up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, up to 500GB of hard drive space (a 256GB SSD is an option), optional Bluetooth 2.1, HDMI output, an 8-cell battery, AlienFX illuminated keyboard, integrated Wi-Fi, optional WWAN and a laser-engraved owner nameplate. It can be ordered today starting at $799.

Alienware M11x Boosts Performance for 11-Inch Laptop Gaming

Gamers Can Power Up with New Intel Core i7 Processor Options and NVIDIA Optimus Technology

ROUND ROCK, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dell today boosted the performance of its Alienware M11x, giving the world’s most powerful 11-inch gaming laptop even more muscle to please diehard enthusiasts who demand a superior gaming experience they can take anywhere.

“It’s a challenge to make the world’s most powerful 11-inch gaming laptop even better, but we’ve done it.”

New Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processor options combine with the latest NVIDIA Optimus technology to provide the ultimate, High-Definition mobile gaming experience. Intel’s Turbo Boost technology can further accelerate Core i5 and Core i7 performance when demand peaks. All the Alienware M11x processors are also overclockable* beyond the standard specification to help maximize performance.

The powerful NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M provides 1GB of discrete, fast HD graphics performance for more realistic gaming environments and virtual worlds playing stutter-free* at high 720p resolution. Built-in NVIDIA PhysX technology propels hyper-realistic game play on the M11x that shows every dynamic cause-and-effect detail.

NVIDIA® Optimus technology switches seamlessly and transparently from the integrated Intel HD Graphics Media Accelerator to GeForce GT 335M discrete graphics when extra performance is demanded by visually intensive applications. Switching to integrated graphics during less visually demanding applications, like word processing or e-mail exchange, can help extend battery life.

“The Alienware M11x is the perfect go-anywhere laptop for people who want to play today’s most popular and demanding games in high definition. With the new Core i7 processor and high-performance discrete graphics that can kick in when needed, gamers can get a stunning visual experience and fast-action play wherever they are without sacrificing long battery life for less intensive activities,” said Arthur Lewis, general manager, Dell gaming products. “It’s a challenge to make the world’s most powerful 11-inch gaming laptop even better, but we’ve done it.”

The Alienware M11x, available in soft-touch Stealth Black or Lunar Shadow, retains its svelte 4.4-pound* figure and distinctive Alienware design with built-in AlienFX™ illuminated keyboard and laser-engraved user nameplate. It ships with a choice of 64-bit Windows 7 operating systems installed.
