Acer’s Gateway Brand Gets Notebook and Desktop Refresh For Back-To-School
There are two Gateway NE notebooks in the family--a 15.6-inch model and a 17.3-incher. Buyers can configure them accordingly, but the lowest-end model starts at $379.99. A 15.6-inch NE52204u with a quad-core AMD A4-5000 APU, 8GB of DDR3L memory, and a 500GB hard drive (5400 RPM) costs $399.99, while a 17.3-inch NE72206u packing a quad-core AMD A6-5000 APU, 8GB of memory, and a 5400 RPM HDD is $499.99. Both have built-in webcams and microphones and offer a full-size keyboard.
Acer is offering a Gateway One ZX all-in-one with a dual-core Intel Pentium G2030 (3GHz) processor, 8GB of DDR3 memory, and a 1TB (7200 RPM) hard drive. It also sports an optical drive, WiFi and Bluetooth, plenty of ports (including HDMI and USB 3.0), a 21.5-inch Full HD display. A keyboard and mouse is included, and the whole package is $529.99.
There’s also a traditional desktop machine (DX4870-UB2C) with a quad-core Intel Core i5-3330 processor, 16GB of DDR3 memory, a 1TB (7200 RPM) hard drive, a DVD writer, built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, and extra expansion slots. That machine starts at $549.99 with a keyboard and mouse, and buyers can add a 27-inch Gateway-branded display (KX2703 bd) to the mix for $229.99. The displays are available in many additional sizes starting at 19.5 inches and $99.
