An $80 Smartwatch Takes On The Apple Watch, Amazfit Bip Is A Steal Of A Deal

If the only thing holding you back from owning a smartwatch is the sometimes exorbitant cost, we have good news—there is a capable model that is on sale for $79.99 right now. That is not a ginormous savings over its regular $99.99 selling price, but it is way cheaper than an Apple Watch, with a 30-day battery life to boot.

The model we are talking about is Huami's Amazfit Bip. It is the newest addition to Huami's smartwatch family, and it comes in a variety of color options. The long battery life is one of the standout features, though, as it can be annoying to have to charge a smartwatch each and every day.

Never heard of Huami? The brand is not as well known in the US as it is in China. However, as the sole partner of Xiaomi wearables, it is one of the biggest wearable device companies in the world, having sold over 50 million units since launching in 2014. We even spent some hands-on time with one of the company's earlier smartwatch models, the Amazfit Pace GPS.

As for the Amazfit Bip, it is a full-featured smartwatch. Some of its bells and whistles include a built-in GPS, an optical heart rate monitor, activity tracking, sleep monitoring, a color LCD screen, and of course Bluetooth connectivity.

For reference, an Apple Watch Series 4 starts at $399 (barring any sales). So, the Amazfit Bit is significantly less. It's obviously not a complete apples-to-apples comparison, but with the price difference, does it have to be?
