Is Nokia's X2 Android Smartphone Imminent?
There's a live countdown timer on a new Nokia Conversations blog post titled "Green with Envy" that indicates the "Time left to launch." Above the timer, Microsoft teases website visitors by saying, "Summer brings out our inner glow...stay tuned to Conversations to find out what we've got in store."
Given the wording and splashes of green, it's a safe bet that Android is involved. Furthermore, it's worth remembering that Nokia used green ducks to tease the launch of the original Nokia X handset, which is another strong indication that Microsoft's about to reveal an X2 smartphone.
We'll have to wait for confirmation on the specs, though according to Forbes, rumor has it the Nokia X2 might rock a 4.3-inch display with a 800x480 resolution, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 5-megapixel camera. That's hardly the kind of spec sheet that would make a person wet their pants with excitement, but given that Microsoft is invested in its own Windows Phone platform, it makes sense the company wouldn't want to release an Android-powered superphone.
