If you're a frequent reader of HotHardware, then you're well aware that we've been quite impressed with the NVIDIA SHIELD TV. Not only is the pint-sized device a competent Android gaming console, but it also serves as an Android TV hub, a media streamer (for services like Netflix and Hulu), and can even function as a Plex Media Server. Finally, it can serve all this gaming and video content with the help of Google Assistant to search and provide key information all via voice command. Today, NVIDIA SHIELD TV is also gaining the ability to be the focal point for your smart home efforts now,... Read more...
The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti will soon be upon us, and as we approach its late October launch, more details about the card continue to leak. This time around, we have a full retail box shot of a custom GeForce GTX 1070 Ti card from KFA2. If you're not familiar with KFA2, it's a hardware brand that is popular in Europe and is most closely associated with GALAX. There is no official confirmation of the specs for the card other than the fact that it includes 8GB of GDDR5 memory and that is uses 6+8-pin power connectors. Looking at the card itself, we see a dual-fan arrangement that should offer... Read more...
The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti is pretty much a foregone conclusion at this point. Thanks to numerous specs and benchmarks leaks, along with a premature Facebook post from Gigabyte, we know that NVIDIA is cooking up the graphics card for a debut sometime around Halloween. Today, we have some more benchmarks to add to our leak pile, and they come from the popular 3DMark benchmark suite. In this case, there are new benchmarks numbers from the Fire Strike Extreme and Time Spy tests. In Fire Strike Extreme, the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti managed to put up a graphics score of 9449 points. This compares to... Read more...
Microsoft may have dazzled the masses yesterday with the announcement of the Surface Book 2 family (which is available in two screen sizes the time around), but Hewlett-Packard is aiming squarely at creative professionals with its new ZBook x2. HP bills the device as the "world's most powerful and first detachable PC workstation". If you look at the ZBook x2's specs, you can see why HP has come to this conclusion. At its heart, the ZBook x2 has a 14-inch 4K display, with optional 10-bit HP DreamColor support reaching 100 percent of the Adobe RGB color gamut. The tablet comes with a full-size aluminum... Today, Intel announced something that it hopes will help in the fight against NVIDIA in the AI market. Intel's new processor is called the Nervana Neural Network Processor, and previously went by the codename "Lake Crest." Intel says that it has been working to make the Nervana processor for three years and it is now ready to reveal some details on the processor. Nervana is a purpose-built architecture for deep learning and the primary goal for the hardware team was to provide flexibility needed for deep learning primitives and to make the core hardware as efficient as possible. Intel... Read more...
There have been lots of rumors surrounding NVIDIA's still-unannounced GeForce GTX 1070 Ti, most of which point to a launch happening later this month. Missing from all the chatter, however, has been any benchmarks. Well, that changes today. The first benchmarks (that we are aware of) of the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti have leaked out from the Ashes of Singularity: Escalation database. This is a benchmark we have run ourselves a few times, though on a different settings preset than what's been leaked out. In this case, the preset level was configured to "Extreme," and run at a 2560x1440 (1440p) resolution.... Read more...
There have been multiple reports of NVIDIA readying a GeForce GTX 1070 Ti graphics card for a launch sometime later this month. While we generally take leaked info with a healthy dose of salt, what we have seen and heard leads us to believe this is real news. We are anxious to see what the final spec looks like, though in the meantime, a Chinese-language website has posted what it claims are all the vitals.Assuming the information is accurate, the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti will wield a GP104 GPU, though it will be a different version than other cards based on the same chip. This particular variant, the... Read more...
When it comes to gaming rigs, we love it when OEMs (and enthusiasts who build their machines) throw everything but the kitchen sink at their systems. Excess is best when it comes to NVIDIA, which commissioned high-end PC case maker Parvum to some up with the Ultimate GeForce PC. The main requirement was to design a custom case that would showcase the kickass hardware lurking inside -- specifically the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. The case is custom-milled from aluminum and features an embedded water cooling system constructed of clear acrylic, which has to be seen to be believed. Inside the case, you'll... Read more...
Every Star Trek fan in the world has been waiting for a real-life Holodeck to emerge. NVIDIA has gone and built one and is now inviting designers and developers to test it out. Well, sort of. NVIDIA unveiled an intelligent virtual reality platform that is capable of delivering photorealistic visuals and real-world physics, all simulated in a VR environment. Called Holodec, NVIDIA is essentially offering developers the necessary tools to build and immerse themselves into a virtual design lab. "NVIDIA Holodeck empowers designers to bring peers, partners and customers along the design journey to explore... Read more...
NVIDIA has found plenty of partners for its DRIVE PX 2 autonomous driving platform, including the likes of Toyota and Volvo. When it was first announced back at CES 2016, NVIDIA billed Drive PX 2 as the "world's first in-car artificial intelligence supercomputer". Not one to rest on its laurels, the GPU and AI company pulled the wraps off the Drive PX 2 Pegasus platform at GTC Europe. According to NVIDIA, DRIVE PX Pegasus is capable of executing over 320 million operations per second, outpacing its predecessor by 10x. Powering this new AI systems are two next generation NVIDIA Xavier SoCs that... Read more...
It has been hard for months now for PC enthusiasts and gamers to find the video cards they want, because miniers have been buying them up to mine whatever their preferred cryptocurrency might be. Back in late September, we talked about prices for GeForce GTX 10 Series video cards possibly climbing due to a DRAM shortage and Ethereum miners. Now we have some new dedicated cards for miners coming to market from Inno3D that won't help the DRAM shortage, but might at least lure miners away from the cards gamers are searching for. These are P106 mining cards, which are essentially stripped down NVIDIA... Read more...
Although our own testing have shown the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti to easily outpace the Radeon RX Vega 64 in most gaming benchmarks, there appears to be at least one DX12 title that seem to favor AMD's latest graphic flagship. That game is Forza Motorsport 7, which is set to go into wide release tomorrow, October 3rd. In most gaming benchmarks, the Vega 64 has been shown to be a worthy adversary for the GeForce GTX 1080. But in Forza Motorsport 7, the Vega 64 is punching above its weight class, outperforming the GTX 1080 Ti by roughly 23 percent at Full HD resolution. With the resolution cranked... Read more...
All signs are pointing to NVIDIA releasing a GeForce GTX 1070 Ti in less than a month. Just over a week ago, Gigabyte's Facebook page seemingly confirmed the existence of the graphics card, confirming earlier rumors. Now, a fresh report is suggesting that the card will launch just in time for Halloween. According to NordicHardware, the GTX 1070 will launch on October 26th, with Halloween arriving just a few days later on October 31st. The publication also indicates that NVIDIA's board partners are far along in testing their own designs based around the chip, and will be ready to unleash a wave... Read more...
Those big touchscreen displays inside Tesla's fleet of automobiles might be getting a brain transplant. At present, hardware from NVIDIA powers the information and entertainment experiences displayed on the large displays, but for how long remains to be seen—it is said that Tesla is planning a switch to Intel hardware on its Model 3 and new versions of its other electric vehicles. If true, this would be another blow inflicted to NVIDIA from Tesla. It was reported last week that Tesla had begun working with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) to develop custom artificial intelligence chips to replace NVIDIA's... Read more...
