Everyone seems to be playing PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, or PUBG as the cool kids spell it. And by "everyone," we do not mean that literally, of course, but that does not take anything away from the game's popularity. The battle royale shooter has now leapfrogged ahead of Dota 2 on Steam's concurrent player chart, hitting a peak of 877,844 gamers all logged in at the same time. That feat pushed Dota 2 down to second place with a peak of 842,919 concurrent players, the only other game that comes close to the number of players PUGB is enjoying. #1 on @steam_games! Getting there meant "re-engineering the gameplay systems at the core of our engine" along with a "sustained commitment" from the team at large. Really though,... Read more...
All good things never truly go out of fashion, they just sometimes take a backseat to the popular trends of the day before making a triumphant comeback. So it goes with Age of Empires II, a classic real-time strategy (RTS) by today's standards, having first launched to PC nearly 14 years ago (and to the PlayStation 2 in November, 2001). Age of Empires II is returning to the limelight with a high-definition makeover and will be available exclusively through Steam on April 9th. Age of Empires II HD will run $20 when it launches next month, though if you're feeling antsy, you place your pre-order... Read more...
