Of all the experimental, “Skunkworks” projects that Google is currently working on; Project Tango is perhaps one of my favorites. Project Tango offers a new way to interact with our world through the use of 3D motion and real-time depth sensing. Combined with custom software and hardware sensors, Project Tango devices are capable of performing over a quarter million 3D measurements per second to create a 3D model of the world we see. There are endless possibilities with Project Tango, as Google clearly notes. “What if you could capture the dimensions of your home simply by walking around with your phone before you went furniture shopping? What if the visually-impaired could navigate unassisted... Read more...
One of the highlights of today’s opening keynote at the NVIDIA GPU Technology Conference in San Jose (GTC) was NVIDIA CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang’s invited special guest, Tesla CEO, Elon Musk and the “fireside chat” the two were scheduled to hold. Frankly, it was a bit shorter than expected, but when two visionaries take the stage, time does tend to fly, figuratively and literally. There’s no question, Jen-Hsun Huang is a visionary when it comes to visual computing, but Musk, Musk thinks way outside the box on a lot of things – from Electric Vehicles, to Hyperloop supersonic transport, to autonomous cars that are so reliable, they're safer on the road than humans. Think about it.... Read more...
NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang kicked off the company's 2015 GPU Technology Conference today with his keynote that focused heavily on "deep learning" and analytics that essentially teach computers to think, recognize and react like a human (AI). Huang disclosed a number of details regarding the just-launched GeForce GTX Titan X as well, along with some news regarding the company’s upcoming Pascal GPU architecture and future-looking initiatives in autonomous driving, accompanied by a special guest, Tesla CEO, Elon Musk. In case you missed out on our full review, we have all of the GeForce GTX Titan X’s juicy details chronicled for you all right here. The card is based on NVIDIA’s 8 Billion transistor,... NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang is about to get the party started at this year’s GPU Technology Conference (GTC), which is being held in San Jose, California. We’re certain that NVIDIA’s monster GeForce GTX Titan X will make an appearance but the real kicker might come from Tony Stark Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Motors. Musk is scheduled to join Jen-Hsun on stage for perhaps a big announcement relating to automobiles. We already know that NVIDIA technology is used in the Model S, so perhaps we’ll hear about a Tegra X1 announcement for the upcoming Model X and Model III electric vehicles. You can watch the keynote live below via Ustream: Broadcast live streaming video on Ustream... Read more...
