From the moment the proposed $45 billion Comcast-Time Warner Cable (TWC) merger was announced over a year ago, many consumers were understandably worried about what that would mean for competition in the broadband and TV markets, not mention how it would affect their bills each month. While the Federal Communications Commission sorts through all the feedback and arguments regarding net neutrality and internet fast lanes, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy has been taking a more direct approach. Recently, Leahy sent a letter to Comcast executive vice president David Cohen pressuring the company to make assurances that it will continue to support the old net neutrality rules and implement additional protections.
